Scrappy Summer Sundays Week 3

Welcome back to Scrappy Summer Sunday.   On week 1 & 2 I went through basic construction, now it is time to build up this mini book. I started by getting out my bags of scraps and finding large sizes that I can cut into 4"x5" mattes.
After I found the papers I liked, I used my paper trimmer to cut my mattes and pages for the small flaps. Then I also trimmed other scraps into banners, flags and arrows.

Now I start gluing my mattes in and creating pages.  To make the pages I sandwich the paper between the the small flaps.  This creates a page that is approximately the same size as the the rest of the album.
I made sure the pages matched each other. However, because I was working from scraps they weren't all facing the same direction.  I am not really bothered by this, because I wanted this project to be fast and free. I feel like it won't be that noticeable in the finished project with all of the embellishments I will add.
Here is a look at week 3.  I love using the small paper bags to create pockets for journaling.  I'm not pleased with the way the pictures are laying, so I will be matting the pictures in the future.

Next week we will be working on the binding.  I will show you how I am going to reinforce the binding and decorate it.  I hope you are enjoying this series.  Stay with me for more.

Scrappy Summer Sundays Week 1 & 2

So I have been kind of MIA for a while... Since January yikes, its worse than I thought.  The Cake Spinners and my hobbies have taken a backseat lately.  I have been working hard to try and graduate from school.  I have been pursuing a Bachelor in Culinary Management since July 2010, and it is beyond time for me to get serious about my senior project courses.  Although I have been working hard, family, and charity work have been taking it's toll.

Well I'm coming back this summer to bring you a cute little summer mini album similar to the December Daily.  There is anywhere from thirteen to fifteen weeks of summer for us, so I will be bringing weekly posts of this album.

I have made this album with scraps from a previous project.  I used eight scraps that were approximately 8'X5", and 5"X2.5".
I folded each scrap in half horizontally and wove the pages together by cutting a 2.5" slit along the fold line of each 4"X5" folder, and inserted the smaller scraps.

This made it easy to bind the pages together and space the pages apart for heavy embellishment.
Here is a look at my first two weeks of the summer.

As you know if you have seen my December Daily, I love the Instagram format.  So I usually make small albums and print small pictures.  This time around I decided to try out Walgreens new 4X4 printing.  I did have an issue with the pictures I ran through Framatic.  The outside frames did not show up in their printed format.  So I have decided to continue this project without using Framatic.

Stay tuned, next week I will go through how I finished the construction of the book, and built up the pages.

Happy Summer

December Daily Final 2013

Well, I finally finished my December Daily.  Check it out in the video below.

As usual I lost it around the 15th.   I just get super busy, every year.  I was still taking pictures and editing them, but I wanted to spend time with my family instead of scrap booking.  That is what truly matters to me during the holidays.

December Daily 14 and 15

I seem to be back on track. I just hope the hustle and bustle doesn’t distract me again.  But I do have a ton to do before Christmas is here so I will be planning my days very carefully.  Here are days 14 and 15 for you to enjoy.

December Daily 10, 11,12, and 13

Well, it happened, the busy bug has bitten and has put me behind.  After finals last week, and a couple of days of recovery, it is now time to play catch up.  Here are the next four days I have completed in my December Daily project.

December Daily 8 and 9

Yess!  I’m still trucking along on my December Daily.  The actual scrapbook part of this project is not the difficult part, but the blogging part is.  I am trying hard to bring you good content, and good photography.  Today I made a make shift light box out of poster board and masking tape.

December Daily 6 and 7

Yay!! Another two days are complete.  The covers to this album were quite simple to make.  I used chipboard and cut it ½ inch taller than my book and a full inch wider, to allow my tags to stick out.

December Daily 4 and 5

Whew!  What a busy week it has been.  Pages four and five are done, and I promised you a walk through of how I made my album.  I made this album with 8 lunch bags.  I just use the cheap ones you can get at the grocery store.  This album is an accordion album, so we will be folding the bags accordion style.

December Daily 2 and 3

With day two and three complete, I wanted to share with you how I put everything together, as well as my process as we journey through this month long project. As you know form my previous post, I made a paper bag mini.  After I made the mini I scrounged through my embellishment, and Christmas bins to find all of the bits and pieces to make my project come to life.  I grabbed a cute basket and loaded it up; it now sits on my desk so that everything I need is with in an arm’s reach.

December Daily 1

It is that time if year again... Most scrap bookers I know have been plotting and planning their December Daily projects for months now.  I of course, have been doing the same.  This is my third year doing a December Daily. The first year 2011 I bought Ali Edwards kit from Studio Calico.  I loved doing it but I missed the process of creating the actual book. Last year I did an envelope mini tutorial from Paper Phenomenon, I loved creating the book but only scrapped to December 14th.  So this year I have a renewed energy.  My family loves to look through these books during the holidays, it creates great fellowship and keeps our traditions alive.
